This week has been long. I've had a multitude of deadlines thankfully they're all past now, with work submitted. It hasn't left a lot of time for me, but that's not the end of the world.

Yesterday I was able to go out for lunch with Robert. We talked and just spent time together it was good. Not to mention you've gotta love Mexican food!

I love this time of year. I love the colours as the trees turn orange.

I don't particularly like the Bible verse I found for today, but I struggled with finding one which related to the changing colours of autumn. Maybe I should have gone with a poem instead.

In brighter news my boyfriend's been staying with me this weekend and we're having a form of Big Bang Theory marathon, on series two of the five box-sets I happen to own. It's looking good :)

Luke 12:34

I've come back home for the weekend for the first time this academic year. I'm lucky because it's not too far and I don't like being away from home, although I cope better than I used to.

The painting above was done by my sister for her GCSE's, it's of the cherry tree which is outside the Science labs at the high school we went to. It hangs above my bed.

In other news my student finance finally came through mid-week and I spent most of yesterday doing Scout Leader training, and then in the evening I went to the district Scout Swimming Gala. I met several new people during training yesterday, and in the evening I saw people I hadn't seen in a while.

It was fun. 

I guess that's why I love home.

This week I was away from my computer for the entire weekend, hence my Sunday post going up on a Monday. I went to Birmingham to visit my friend, and attend a Scout event. The above picture is of Birmingham New Street.

In other news my Student Finance still hasn't come through, but I've been to see my Uni and it should do in the next couple of days.

This picture may not be the best I've taken this week, but it does signify a big achievement for me. Last year, at Uni, I cooked very little, I didn't really feel comfortable in the kitchen. This year I decided I would make more of an effort, I feel more comfortable and last night I cooked a veritable feast. It sure wasn't perfect but y'know baby steps.

I even did roast parsnips and orange and balsamic vinegar gravy. I know what I'd change for next time, but it definitely wasn't a bad meal!

Maybe this year I'll be more settled and push myself out of my comfort zone more.

This week's been a strange one. It was about my fifth last day at the same place of work and my sister moved out today. She's starting at the UEA to do maths, I guess it runs in the family, but she's been uber-excited about it!

These flowers were on the font at Church this morning, they have some beautiful displays.

Proverbs 26:1

This particular quote made me giggle and since this photo was taken a month ago and summer seems to have passed now it seemed fitting!

This week was a busy week, moving to a new house for next year and coming home again all in one day; working four days of the second busiest week of the year at the shop I work at. I even seem to be getting back into the swing of a regular schedule, still waaaay behind on reading everyone else's posts though. I'll get there.

Not to mention that it was back to the pre-holidays routine of four nights of scouting a week, shame there's only one week like that left this year though!

That's what I'll be doing this morning, and then because my arms ache from barrowing concrete yesterday I'll be having a little recreational sewing this afternoon.

Last week I was on Cub Camp and we took the cubs for a walk along the beach.

I've spent the week recovering... and watching the Olympics.

Cub Camp

  This past weekend I was on Cub Camp, the many bug bites on my ankles pay testament to this.

 I thought I'd share a few of the pictures, none of the Kids, from the weekend.

 We had dramatic skys the whole time we were there. 

 This leaf was caught in a spider's web!

 The Kids had a go at Archery..

 ... And Grass Sledging!

 In the evening we had a campfire with the Guide group next door.

 And it was followed by a magnificent sunrise.

 I particularly like this shot of the refelection in the kettle

 On the second day we took them for a walk along the beach and back up through the forest. We all had a wonderful time.

Canterbury Cathedral

This is the final of four posts I've done about my holiday in Kent. To see the others follow the links at the end of the post.

 Canterbury Church is the home of the head of the Church of England. And it's possibly the oldest Christian religious site in England with some form of worship being held there as early as the 3rd Century.

It's a beautiful building filled with amazing medieval architecture and so many wonderful stained glass windows.

There are in places wall paintings, which are very old art, superbly preserved for everyone to see and enjoy.

This candle marks the place of the altar which was laid to commemorate Thomas Beckett, the Archbishop who was murdered in his place of work. When the Reformation came and Henry VIII had a lot of the work torn down the altar was removed, a candle has been burning on the spot pretty much ever since.

Of course there's grafitti, some of it's really old, this one from 1704 was the oldest we could find hence the picture, but there's probably older grafitti which hasn't been dated.

This was my favourite window in the building, and I don't really feel like my picture's done it justice.
